CSV Unescape reads one CSV field back into the text it holds. A field that does not begin with a double quote is returned unchanged, unless it contains a comma or a line break, which means it is not one unquoted field. A quoted field is read up to its closing quote, and each doubled quote "" becomes one quote.
A missing closing quote is reported at the opening quote. Characters after the closing quote are reported at the first extra character. Backslashes are ordinary characters, not escapes. The field delimiter is a comma, and other delimiters are not offered yet.
Reading runs in your browser. The field you paste is never uploaded, logged or stored.
It turns one CSV field back into the text it stores. Doubled quotes inside a quoted field become a single quote, and line breaks inside the quotes stay real line breaks. An unquoted field with no comma or line break is returned as pasted.
Paste one field, not a whole row. An unquoted comma or line break is reported as a problem, and anything after a closing quote is reported at the first extra character. Split a row into fields before pasting one of them.
A comma. This page reads one field only: a comma is allowed inside quotes and rejected outside them. Tab and semicolon delimiters are not offered yet.
The tool points at the opening quote instead of guessing where the field ends. If the field is closed and more characters follow, it points at the first of those characters.
