Paste or type Markdown. The preview and the HTML update as you type.
Markdown to HTML turns Markdown into clean HTML the moment you type. The preview shows the rendered result; switch to HTML to see and copy the markup itself. Copy from the preview to paste formatted text into email, documents or a CMS, or download a complete, styled .html file.
GitHub Flavored Markdown is on by default: tables with column alignment, strikethrough, task lists and links detected from bare URLs. Footnotes and definition lists always work. Turn GitHub Flavored Markdown off to follow strict CommonMark, and use Options to add smart punctuation, treat single newlines as line breaks or leave out heading anchors.
The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so nothing is uploaded. Raw HTML in your Markdown is allowed, and the preview is always sanitized: scripts, event handlers and unsafe links are removed before anything is shown. The HTML you copy from the HTML view or download is sanitized the same way unless you switch that option off; copying from the preview is always sanitized.
No. The conversion runs in your browser, and your text never leaves your device. Images you reference by URL are loaded by your browser from their own host, as on any web page.
CommonMark plus the GitHub Flavored Markdown extensions: tables, strikethrough, task lists and links from bare URLs. Footnotes and definition lists are always available. Fenced code blocks keep their language as a language- class, so highlight.js or Prism can color them on your own site.
With Sanitize HTML output on, which is the default, scripts, iframes, forms, inline styles, event handlers and javascript: links are removed, leaving plain semantic HTML. With it off, the HTML is exactly what your Markdown produced, including any raw HTML you wrote, so publish it only if you trust the source.
Stay on the Preview view and press Copy. The clipboard receives both rich text and plain text, so pasting into Gmail, Google Docs or Word keeps headings, lists, links and tables. Switch to the HTML view to copy the markup.
Heading anchors give every heading a unique, GitHub-style id such as getting-started, so a link to #getting-started jumps to it. Turn off Heading anchors in Options to get bare headings.
A complete HTML document with its title taken from your first heading, a mobile viewport and a small embedded stylesheet for readable typography. It has no scripts and no external stylesheets, so it looks the same in any browser; images you linked still load from their own hosts.
Turn text into a valid JSON string literal, or decode one back to plain text. Runs in your browser.
