Paste HTML entities. Named characters and numeric references are decoded as you type.
HTML Unescape turns character references back into characters. &, <, >, ", ' and ' are decoded, and so are decimal references such as { and hexadecimal references such as 🎉.
A compact set of common names is included: the Latin-1 letters and marks such as , ©, — and é. An unknown name, semicolon and all, is left exactly as written. A numeric reference past Unicode, or one that names a surrogate, is reported at the ampersand instead of being replaced.
Decoding runs in your browser and the text you paste is never uploaded. Swap sends the decoded text to HTML Escape when you need to encode it again.
It replaces character references with the characters they stand for. &, <, >, ", ' and ' become those characters, and so do decimal references such as { and hexadecimal references such as 🎉.
The markup names, a compact set of common marks ( , ©, ®, ™, —, –, …, «, », •, ·, × and ÷) and the Latin-1 letters. An unknown name stays literal, semicolon included. The full list of HTML5 names is not used.
A reference greater than U+10FFFF, or a surrogate from U+D800 through U+DFFF, is a problem at the ampersand. The tool names the issue and does not insert a replacement character.
Yes. A name or a number is decoded only when the semicolon is present. Without it the text is left unchanged, so a reference you are still typing is not half-applied.
No. Decoding runs in your browser and the text you paste is never uploaded, logged or stored. Google Analytics records page views and feature use, never content.
