About JSON Minify

JSON Minify collapses a JSON value onto one line. Indent and spaces between tokens are removed. Text inside strings is kept, including spaces.

Sort object keys works in this direction too. Every object's keys are ordered by UTF-16 code unit and array elements stay put. The minified text is valid input for JSON Beautify.

Minifying runs in your browser. The JSON you paste is never uploaded. Swap sends the result to JSON Beautify.

Frequently asked questions

What does JSON minify do?

It removes indentation and the spaces between JSON tokens so the value fits on one line. Text inside strings is unchanged, including spaces and line-break escapes such as \n.

Does minify change the data?

It reprints the value JSON.parse read. Number notation becomes canonical, so 1.0 becomes 1, and duplicate keys keep the last value. Spaces inside strings stay.

Can I sort keys while minifying?

Yes. Turn on Sort object keys to order every object's keys by UTF-16 code unit before the line is printed. Array elements stay in their original order. Array-index keys such as 2 and 10 still print in numeric order, because that is how JSON.stringify lists them.

Is the text I paste uploaded anywhere?

No. Minifying runs in your browser and the text you paste is never uploaded, logged or stored. Google Analytics records page views and feature use, never content.
