About SQL Minify

SQL Minify collapses whitespace outside strings and comments to a single space and drops a space just inside parentheses. Comments stay in place, and keyword case stays as you typed it.

The same regions are left untouched as in SQL Beautify: single-quoted strings, quoted identifiers and comments. An unclosed string, identifier or block comment is reported at its opening character instead of guessing a fix.

Minify runs in your browser and the statement you paste is never uploaded. Swap sends the one-line result back to SQL Beautify.

Frequently asked questions

What does SQL minify change?

It collapses runs of spaces, tabs and line breaks outside strings and comments to one space, and it drops a space just inside a parenthesis. It does not change keyword case or rewrite names.

Are comments removed when SQL is minified?

No. Line comments and block comments are kept, including the text inside them. A line comment still ends the line so the code after it cannot become part of the comment.

What happens if a quote or comment is left open?

The output is replaced by a problem that says the string, identifier or comment is unclosed and points at the opening character. Nothing is guessed past that point.

Is the text I paste uploaded anywhere?

No. Minifying runs in your browser and the text you paste is never uploaded, logged or stored. Google Analytics records page views and feature use, never content.
