Minified XML

About XML Minify

XML Minify removes whitespace that sits only between tags so a well-formed document fits on one line. Text, quoted attribute values, comments, CDATA and processing instructions stay as written.

An element that contains real text stays compact, so words are not pushed onto new lines. Markup this tool accepts can be beautified again to the same indented form.

Entities are not expanded and a DOCTYPE is rejected. Swap sends the one-line result to XML Beautify. Minifying runs in your browser and the text you paste is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

What does XML minify do?

It removes whitespace that sits only between tags, so the document fits on one line. Text, attribute values, comments, CDATA and processing instructions are not rewritten.

Which whitespace does minify remove?

Spaces, tabs and line breaks that are the entire text between two tags. Spaces inside a word, inside a comment, inside CDATA or inside a quoted attribute stay where they are.

Do comments and CDATA change when minifying?

Comment text and CDATA contents are copied through unchanged, including their own spaces and line breaks. Only the gap around those blocks is removed.

Is the text I paste uploaded anywhere?

No. Formatting runs in your browser and the text you paste is never uploaded, logged or stored. Google Analytics records page views and feature use, never content.
